Motor Control Research Laboratory
Welcome
Welcome to the Motor Control Laboratory in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. The Motor Control Laboratory conducts research examining how the central nervous system controls movement from both physiological and behavioral perspectives. A central theme to the Motor Control Laboratory’s research is addressing the effect of the aging process on sensorimotor control. Overall, the research questions and projects of the lab range from basic to applied and are often multi-disciplinary in nature. As such, the Motor Control Laboratory will frequently collaborate with other laboratories in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health, across the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus and other national and international universities. In addition to supporting faculty led research projects, the Motor Control Laboratory provides essential research opportunities for both graduate and undergraduate kinesiology students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Laboratory experiences will expand a student's theoretical understanding of the control of movement, develop unique and innovative research skills, and foster intellectual growth through scholarly inquiry.
