C. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2008 - Present

Graduate Research Assistant: University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign - Exercise Psychology Lab. Working under the supervision of Dr. Edward McAuley, primary responsibilities include intervention planning, data collection and analysis and training personnel. Additional responsibilities include participant recruitment, maximal graded exercise testing (GXT), functional fitness testing (FFT), exercise group leadership, physical activity counseling, and exercise DVD production.

Research Projects:

Activity, Gait and Balance - II (FlexToba) - A 12 month federally funded randomized controlled home-based DVD exercise trial examining the relationship between flexibility, toning and balance exercises with physical functioning and psychosocial variables in community dwelling older adults in east central Illinois.
Primary responsibilities include assisting in intervention planning and design, production of the exercise DVD, recruitment, screening, data collection, supervision and administration of functional fitness testing, and providing tailored exercise telephone counseling support to participants.

Cross Cultural Study - An internet based Cross Cultural Study evaluating physical activity, self esteem and quality of life in college students.
Primary responsibilities include data collection on the University of Illinois campus as well as supervising and co-ordinating the data collection process with academic institutions in India.

Healthy Active Lifestyle Trial (HALT) - A 12-month randomized controlled exercise intervention examining the effects of aerobic activity on cognitive function, immunological markers, and psychosocial factors in older adults.
Responsibilities include data collection and analysis, maximal graded exercise testing, exercise group leadership, functional fitness and rockport testing.


2008-2009, Univerisity of Illinois

Graduate Teaching Assistant: KIN 247 - Introduction to Sport Psychology
Study of personality, motivation, anxiety and arousal, competition and other psychological aspects of athletes and sport performance. Responsibilities include tutoring, grading, and administering exams.
