C. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2007-Present, University of Illinois
Research Assistant: Primary responsibilities include data collection and analysis, intervention planning, study coordination and training personnel. Additional responsibilities include exercise group leadership, maximal graded exercise testing, functional fitness testing, participant recruitment, physical activity counseling, and exercise DVD production.
Research projects include:
Healthy, Active, Lifestyle Trial (HALT). A 12-month randomized controlled exercise intervention examining the effects of aerobic activity on fitness, cognitive function, immunological markers, and psychosocial factors in older adults.
Internet Physical Activity for College Students (IPACS). A randomized controlled trial examining the effects of an internet-delivered physical activity program on psychosocial outcomes, academic performance, and social involvement in students seeking mental health services.
Peer education, Exercising, and Eating Right (Project PEER). A randomized controlled trial investigating the effectiveness of a peer-delivered self-efficacy based behavioral intervention to enhance nutrition and physical activity behaviors, and subsequently weight management success, in female university freshman.
Activity, Gait, and Efficacy (AGE-II). A randomized controlled trial examining the effects of a DVD-delivered, home-based exercise program consisting of flexibility, toning, and balance exercises on functional limitations and quality of life among older adults.
Re-Cycle A pilot randomized controlled trial examining the effects of a four-month cycling intervention on arterial stiffness, physical function, and quality of life in hemodialysis patients.
Instructor:
Physical Activity and Health. Responsibilities include preparing lectures, assignments, and exams; lecturing for 175 undergraduate kinesiology majors, tutoring, grading, and administering exams.
Teaching Assistant:
Social and Psychological Aspects of Physical Activity. Responsibilities include lecturing, leading discussions, tutoring, grading, and administering exams.
Introduction to Sport and Exercise Psychology. Responsibilities include grading, administering exams, guest lecturing, and helping students outside of class.
2006-2007, Ball State University
Research Assistant: Primary responsibilities included collaboration with faculty researchers, coding, data entry, and assisting faculty with teaching responsibilities.
Instructor: Physical Conditioning and Fitness Walking. Responsibilities included leading activity classes and evaluating student performance.
