Illinois Athletic Trainer’s Association: each state has its own organization, an extension of NATA. Annual meetings are held in various parts of the state. The association hosts a college bowl where students from different schools compete in jeopardy type questioning about all things athletic training. At the 2008 meeting, Vilija, Joey, and Jenna represented the university very well and brought home the college bowl trophy. They will be competing at the Great Lakes Athletic Trainer’s Association meeting in
March 2009. The winning school will then move on to the first college bowl held at NATA convention in June.

iLEAD: this was the first year that NATA hosted this leadership conference. Student from all over the country met in Washington DC in February 2009 to take part in the opportunity. The conference discussed topics of interviewing, personal qualities that make a leader, tailoring web pages (facebook, myspace, etc) to look professional, and discussing the profession with Certified Athletic Trainers in different aspects of the profession. The conference is a great way to network with professionals, as well as, other students who share the same passion for the profession.
